Global Education & the 26th Curriculum and Instruction Forum: Curriculum, Instruction and Teacher Development will be held on the Danshui campus of Tamkang University (TKU), which is located in New Taipei City of Taiwan.


New Taipei City
      New Taipei City is the most populous city of Taiwan. The area includes a substantial stretch of Taiwan's northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin. New Taipei completely surrounds Taiwan's capital city Taipei, and is bordered by Keelung to the northeast, Yilan County to the southeast, and Taoyuan County to the southwest.


     Tamsui is a town with a special historical background dating back over 400 years. It was called Huwei in the olden days, and the name Tamsui today originated from the TamsuiRiver. As far back as the Ching Dynasty, Tamsui was an important harbor for boats navigating in the northern area since it is located at the outlet of the TamsuiRiver, and therefore, its location led to the prosperity and development of the town.
      Over hundreds of years, Tamsui has experienced historical events and seen stories unfold one after another like a myriad of enthralling plays. These legendary stories still leave us a legacy of cultural treasures today. Now, Tamsui has 23 locations reserved as historical sites scattered among the old streets and ancient alleys, and mountains and fields all over Tamsui that are waiting for us to explore, read and experience.

Tamkang University

      Founded in 1950 as the Tamkang Junior College of English, TKU was the first private college in Taiwan. Tamkang is a university of ideals, vision, and creativity. It sees the pursuit of excellence and ongoing innovation as the primary means of achieving sustainable management. It was the first university in Taiwan to employ Total Quality Management (TQM), which it introduced in 1992, the same year it set up the Committee of Educational Quality Management. Tamkang strives to fully develop students’ potential. It aims to help every Tamkangian establish a firmfoothold at Tamkang University and seeks to become a world-renowned, top quality comprehensive university, by providing its students with the most recent learning resources and training.


How to reach TKU
       After arriving at Taoyuan International Airport, you can take a taxi and have a direct trip to Tamkang University for about 45 minutes. Or you can take a bus bound for Taipei at the airport and get off at Taipei Main Station, and them take the MRT line bound for Dansui right at Taipei Main Station and get off at Dansui, the terminal station.Finally, take either a taxi or a bus Red No.27 at Dansui MRT Station to arrive at Tamkang University.
